- if you drink a LOT of water and pee at least every 2h, the aisle seat will be ya best mate!
I learned the hard way on my July Europe trip. I chose the window seat because, duh, ain't it the best? Look!
Flight to Sydney happened to be at the most beautiful time of day! |
But if drink more water than a camel and pee more than niagara falls, you will be faaaar better off in the aisle seat. Makes life easier for you and the passangers next to ya!
1.5l bottle, head rest with an Aussie take, woolie socks, toiletries, an awesome book. Just what you need for such a long flight(s) |
- Choose an awesome airline, or manually make your flight awesome yourself.
last voyage I flew international with Singapore airlines (SIA) and domestic with Scandinavian Airlines and Virgin Aus.
SIA has surprisingly gourmet airplane food, even in economy! Plus little things like foot rests, entertainment systems, the FA willing to refill your drink bottle with no charge (but joking that will be 10 euros!). Oh and ice cream for dessert!
Scandi airlines supplies free coffee (yay!) but you have to BYO (bring or buy) snacks.
If you choose a crap airline, be prepared with a device full of movies/music/shows, lots of water, yummy food & coffee in a thermos if your airline does not supply coffee. (whaaa?)
- Bring plenty of water and refill as needed.
Keeps you drying out, and getting up to pee gets your blood pumping.
- I would say read a good book...
But being in transit is so exhausting you barely feel like reading. At, I think, Sydney airport, I bought this fab book . In the 30+ hours of transit, I barely touched it, but later as I got over jet lag, I got so into it. Totes worth the purchase.
If you're the opposite, then kick back with a good book and kill time over this long haul.
- Abuse that entertainment system.
Music, movies, episodes on the back of that seat in front of ya. Kills time like nothing else. BYO entertaintment if you're picky. I watched The Boss Baby on the way to Europe, which was great. You seen it?
If you got netflix, (I've had it for nearly a year, and love it! Only came about 3 years ago in Australia) download a bunch of movies/episodes to watch offline.

- Stay warm!
Bring your wooliest socks & a jumper. Sitting for hours in a chilly microclimate (just like an office) you will require some insulation.
Say yes to hot coffee and tea.
BYO blankie if the airline does not supply one.
Last but not least, use free coffee to your advantage
last tim tam slam before leaving Aus. |
.
I'm a coffee fiend. Not just to wake up but because it's a cup of steaming goodness. Keep the coffee flowin as you go on flyin!
Pair that with yo favo snack!
Anything else to make your flight easy breezy, or simply bearable?
This is so useful for me! I have so many economy trips coming up, a few I'm dreading haha, but these are great!
ReplyDeleteglad you found it helpful!
DeleteLOL!! Love it!! We always fly economy and it never bothers me... especially the free alcohol on the international flights! ;-)
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, didn't think of that one. Just don't embarrass your future self as drunk passanger... or be hungover AND jetlagged upon arrival. (Urghh)
